Mahindra Thar NextGen – Losing its Rawness to Comfort?

The Mahindra Thar NextGen is the car that has created a buzz in the market from the time it was seen testing in 2019. The Car did not make it to the Auto Expo 2020 and spy shots of it are still emerging. So let’s find out a few things that we know for sure will change on the Mahindra Thar NextGen.

New Variants

The Mahindra that NextGen is to get the AMT option. Also, we suspect that the car will get a 2 engine option too. This will undeniably need to have been sorted in variants different from the existing ones. Also, the new Variants will be priced close to each other offering a lot more customization. The customization part also extended to the design of the vehicle.

NextGen Design

The NextGen Design of the car is expected to have a newly redesigned front. It will have a new grille. It won’t lose on its characteristic shape of a Jeep but the car is expected to tweak the design to have some trendy modifications. The round headlamps of the vehicle will retain the shape but they will have LED daytime running lights around them. The car will also have fog lamps integrated into the front fenders. Also, this NextGen Mahindra Thar design has new black alloy wheels.

Mahindra Thar Engine

The new Mahindra Thar could get a petrol engine which is seen on the XUV 300. The car will get the option of 4X2 with AMT gearbox. The company is expected to work on the NVH levels so as to improve the overall city riding. The steering column will be revised from the previous generation.

The petrol variant will be introduced to get more highway performance and touring.

The engine will also be BS6 compliant. This will reduce the raw nature of the engine and it will feel more refined. The engine is also expected to get driving modes with eco settings on it. The car is now expected to feel more like a car than a truck. A significant amount of changes are expected from the engine of the vehicle.

Mahindra NextGen Feature

The Mahindra Thar NextGen will have a lot of modern features. To start with the car might get a new dashboard.

This will have a touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto Connect and Apple CarPlay. The car might also get automatic climate control. The new steering column will also get the steering mounted controls. The top variants of the car are expected to get automatic seats for the front. Also, the car will have all the front-facing seats now.

From the old Thar, the car will continue to have an Auxiliary switch slot for the enthusiasts. These will come in hand if someone wants to install a winch switch or an extra set of lights. As of regular feature, the power windows will make it to the list.  Also, there will be a reverse parking camera and parking sensors.

Thar NextGen Off-Road Features

Mahindra Thar NextGen won’t just have an off-road chassis but it will also have new 4X4 features. The car will get electronics which will support Hill hold. This will also give the car Hill descent control. Having a terrain management system would be like a great companion to this chassis. Mahindra Thar NextGen will also get the option of bigger tyres and knobby tyres. The suspension travel of the vehicle will also be increased. The option of Hardtop will be offered for convenience but the Thar is expected to retain the Soft top option too.
