Facelift Spyshot

The expectations of the facelift of the Mahindra Alturas G4 is expected by 2021. With the slow down in the auto sector, we can even assume that the facelift will be pushed even further. The spy shots of the vehicle show that the car will get a tonne of cosmetic upgrades and a few feature updates too. It will get a different grille, updated bumpers and even a new alloy wheel design. These changes are not necessary but the vehicle will be kept fresh because of these changes

Other changes include the new gear selector which is similar to that of the BMW. Also, the headlamps which missed out on LED will get the necessary changes. Also, the infotainment system of the car will get a massive update with various connectivity features.

Design

The Mahindra Alturas G4 has the biggest wheelbase among the segment, it’s even the biggest SUV in terms of height and width. The SUV looks quite big and muscular. The front LED headlamps and DRLs looks quite aggressive, the front grille though looks a bit smaller fo the SUV. Nevertheless, the front of the SUV looks impressive. The side profile of the SUV we guess is a bit controversial. The SUV gets a bigger D-pillar which simultaneously minimizes the third-row windows. When compared with its rivals, the side profile looks a bit smaller. From the rear, it gets a quite big taillamps unit and a long chrome strip that matches its segment. Overall, the SUV looks good and upmarket.

Engine

The Mahindra Alturas G4 comes with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces around 178 bhp max power and 420 Nm. When compared with the rivals, it’s the segment-leading power, even if its a very small margin.

The SUV comes with two drive mode options – 2WD and 4WD.

It will be unfair if we will not consider its offroading capabilities. The Mahindra Alturas G4 is a body on frame SUV. It comes with multiple off-road modes such as four high, four low, two high. The water wading capacity of the SUV is around 700 mm which is more than enough for mild offroading. For making it more of a hardcore off-roader, there are many aftermarket tweaks and kits available in the market.

Features

Mahindra Alturas G4

With the good amount of off-road capability, the SUV also comes with a premium interior. The seat covers of the SUV are made from the Nappa leather which is also surrounded on various other interior elements as well. The SUV comes with a touch screen infotainment system, sunroof, auto headlamps and wiper, automatic climate control, 3D parking camera, boot opener sensor, memory seat adjustment and ORVMs, semi-digital LCD instrument cluster and many more. The SUV comes with multiple safety features such as multiple airbags (9), hill descent control, hill start assist, brake assist, active rollover protection, electronic parking brake. ABS with EBD, ESP, etc.

Price

The pricing of the Mahindra Alturas G4 starts at Rs 28.69 lakhs (both prices ex-showroom) for 2WD variant and Rs 31.69 lakhs for the 4WD variant. Considering all the features and pricing, we think its an underrated SUV. Only two variants and single-engine might be also another reason for low sales figures as the Toyota Fortuner comes with two engines and many different variants. The major rivals of the Mahindra Alturas G4 compete against Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Honda CR-V.
