Buying a new bike is always fascinating and exciting. Lot of us have confusion while buying any kind of motorcycle. Now, we have been asked several times that if Royal Enfield Interceptor is a good choice or bad. In this blog, we will help you to find this answer so read till the end. Royal Enfield Interceptor, we would say is simply a gem from the Royal Enfield. The bike has the feel, power, royalness and something extraordinary than modern bikes. But is it any good for you? well, we will consider various factors and on that basis, so you will be able to get the answer.

Previous bike

The first factor we think is vital for buying Royal Enfield Interceptor is your previous bike. The weight of the Royal Interceptor is around 202 kgs which is quite heavy. If you are riding sub 150 cc motorcycle, the probability is that it weighs under 140 kgs. So shifting directly to the much heavier motorcycle will be quite tricky until you become used to it.

In dense city areas, it’s quite hard to park the motorcycle as well as to remove the motorcycle from congested spots. So you should have an idea of the weight of the bike. If you are riding bikes which weighs more than 150 kgs then it will be not a big problem as you are quite used to heavy motorcycles.

Heating

Royal Enfield Interceptor

Royal Enfield Interceptor is preferred for cruising on highways but in the urban jungle, you might be riding at the speeds less than 30-40 km/hr. The RE Interceptor is quite a powerful bike and comes with air plus oil cooler but that’s not quite effective in the city traffic. So you will definitely feel the heat if you are in traffic for a long period. If that’s not a problem then we guess there’s no other reason to not buy it.

Performance

Royal Enfield Interceptor comes with pretty powerful 650 cc twin-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. The engine produces around 47 bhp max power and 52 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes with six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch. The same engine is shared with the RE Continental GT. The bike sits on 18-inch spoked wheels. It gets 320 mm disc brake at the front and 240 mm disc brake at the rear. These brakes are then assisted with dual-channel ABS which is a nice safety feature.

Refinement

If you are the one shifting from a Royal Enfield singles, then you should give away all the doubts about vibrations. Being a twin-cylinder bike it is very refined and the counterbalancers work perfectly well to curb any vibrations. The bike also has the 270-degree crank configuration which gives it a V-Twin like rumble. This has a performance benefit as there is a lot of torque in the low end of the bike.

Technology

If we have to talk about the technology on this bike, we can say that it’s kept at the bare minimum. One reason is to keep the price low and the other is to keep it in sync with the Royal Enfield Simplicity. The bike does not come with any kind of rider modes or traction control. Also, the instrument cluster consists of Analogue dials which show the speed and tachometer. The engine is also oil-cooled and does not have fancy liquid cooling. So if are looking for the tech then you should turn your eye towards the KTM Duke 390.
