Jawa is one of the old motorcycle brands that were sold in India. The brand has been relaunched after several years of discontinuation. From the ’60s to ’90s Jawa bikes were quite popular in India. After the relaunch of this motorcycle brand, it is now emerging as a quite successful retro motorcycle brand. But here we have found some interesting things about the brand and we think you should know too

India’s most affordable Bobber

Many of us have already guessed it that Jawa currently has India’s most affordable Bobber, the Perak. The Perak is the actual Bobber which is into the production, it is priced at Rs 2.

01 lakhs (ex-showroom) and it gets 334 cc engine producing 30 bhp max power and 31 Nm of peak torque. With that power figures and price, it’s quite astonishing. This bike is also famous for its single seat design and it is a bold approach in this market.

Made by Experience

Jawa

It has been found that many of the Jawa employees and staff, previously somehow and at some point have worked at Royal Enfield. It sounds quite weird, isn’t it? but that’s the fact. Even the key members of the Jawa such as Mr Anupam Thareja and Mr Ashish Joshi have been previously worked at the Royal Enfield.

Mr Anupam Thareja is the person who founded the Classic Legends the company who played a vital role in reviving the Jawa. Mr Ashish Joshi is current chief at Classic legends and also have worked for Triumph in the past.

Retro Looks, Modern Performance

Now we all know that Jawa is a retro motorcycle but when we consider the performance, its whole on a new level. There are multiple drag race videos on YouTube in which Jawa motorcycles easily smashes the sports bikes that occur in a similar price tag. Having such a level of performance on a classic retro motorcycle is like a masterstroke.

For an instant idea, let’s consider Yamaha R15 which is priced similar to the Jawa 42. The Yamaha R15 produces around 18.3 bhp max power while Jawa 42 produces around 27 bhp which is a significant power bump.

Dual Exhaust

Jawa 42

The Jawa motorcycles are also the most affordable motorcycle with the twin exhaust. The core members of the Jawa wanted to have a very close replica of the original Jawa. So the engineers at the Jawa had worked quite a lot to produce similar sound as of original Jawa while being still in the regulations. We have to say that the hard work of the team is seen quite often while riding the bike. The attention to detail is quite staggering you can see it in various other areas such as instrument cluster, headlamps, etc.

Price

The Jawa 42 when launched for the first time, was priced at Rs 1.51,955. The price figures were not just random numbers, its the birth date of Mr Anand Mahindra. Mr Anupam Thareja wanted to give honour to Mr Ananad Mahindra who according to him is like a firm pillar of Jawa. Isn’t it an amazing story? We truly were surprised after knowing all these things, what about you?
