2020 Hyundai Aura is the new compact sedan offering from the brand. The compact sedan will soon be replacing the Hyundai Xcent. The pricing of the Hyundai Aura starts at Rs 5.8 lakhs(ex-showroom). The compact sedan will be competing against the segment dominated Maruti Dzire. Now by bringing a full featured pack of compact sedan, could it gain the attraction among buyers? Lets us analyze the details of the 2020 Hyundai Aura and then we will be easily able to judge whether it has potential or not.

Engine options

The engine options is the area where Hyundai Aura truly shines. It comes with three engine options, which we believe is the first in segment.

The engine options for the Aura are as follows- 1.2-litre petrol, 1.2-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo petrol. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces around 82 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 4,000 rpm. While the 1.2-litre diesel produces around 74 bhp at4,000 rpm and 190 Nm at 1500 rpm. The both above engines comes mated with the 5-speed manual and optional 5-speed automatic gearbox.

The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol produces around 99 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm at 1500 rpm. The 1.0-litre petrol however, comes only with the 5-speed manual gearbox. The compact sedan also comes with the CNG option as well which comes only in 1.2-litre petrol engine. However, there is a power drop of nearly 14 bhp on the CNG mode. The CNG variant comes only with the 5-speed manual gearbox.

The compact sedan comes loaded with competitive and upmarket features. 2020 Hyundai Aura shares a lot with the Grand i10 Nios. The features includes an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system, auto AC and rear vents, wireless charging, rearview camera, parking sensors, and a 5.

3-inch MID in the instrument cluster. It also gets the cruise control on the top trims.

The upholstery and the interior quality is also better than the competitors. It gets the triple tone dashboard which matches with the exterior colour, makes it to look like a premium car. The seat covers are of light shade and has improved quality over the predecessor. Basically the interior of the Hyundai Aura feels very plush and clean.

Driveability and hardware

The acceleration of the 2020 Hyundai Aura is very linear and predictive, so one will definitely enjoy the ride in the city and crowded areas. The steering however is very much light, so it does not gain much of a confidence to push it hard around the corners. The tyres offers nice grip while braking and ABS is also very good calibrated. Overall the compact sedan really good at the city commutes.

Design

You must be wondering, why we didn’t explained about the exterior design. Well, the design is very subjective and cannot be judged. But we have to say that the car in real world looks better than it appear on the images. Just to point out some of the good elements on the exterior are the twin LED DRLs, projector headlamps, honeycomb type front grille, interestingly shaped LED taillamps, 4-spoke diamond cut alloy wheels.

The 2020 Hyundai Aura is the cheapest compact-sedan in the segment. The pricing starts at Rs 5.8 lakhs(ex-showroom) and goes up to 9.23 lakhs(ex-showroom). Considering the price and features it offers, it is very good value for money product you must think of.

Therefore, we can conclude that the Hyundai Aura truly is a potential player in the segment. It will be competing against Maruti Dzire, Ford Aspire and Honda Amaze.
