Maruti has to do something to make its compact SUV, the 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza great in the segment again. The car commanded the number one position in sales for the compact SUV segment. So what will Maruti do? We all know that the car is lacking in terms of features and a petrol engine. So a facelift and the BS6 engine are what is needed.

Earlier this year we had spotted the Maruti Vitara Brezza being tested with the petrol engine but the car was completely covered. Now images have surfaced of the car without covers and wearing some interesting changes. Scroll down below to check out images and more information on the Vitara Brezza facelift.

What will change on the 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift?

The biggest change for buyers will be the discontinuation of the 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza in its diesel engine avatar. There will no longer be a 1.3-litre diesel engine available as Maruti has announced it will discontinue the diesel engines in its portfolio and will only concentrate on petrol/CNG engine options. The Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol will be powered by the new 1.5-litre BS6 engine that is currently doing duty on the Maruti Ciaz and Ertiga. The petrol-only option will make the car cheap and will be offered from launch with an automatic gearbox.

We now also have the spy shots of the car uncovered and as we can see in these images, the updated Vitara Brezza has received cosmetic tweaks at the front, where the bumper gets a new design. The fog lamp housings are larger and in this picture we are seeing a lower variant. The headlamp is now wider and carries a large DRL at the bottom. The car also gets new alloy wheels and overall the side does not get other changes.

We cannot see the rear here but it too could see changes like a new bumper, LED taillamps, and more chrome bits. On the inside, we expect new upholstery, a new bigger touchscreen and maybe to compete with the Venue and the upcoming facelifted Tata Nexon BS6. Maruti might also give the car rear AC vents and new color options to freshen up the image of the car. Now, apart from this there will not be any more changes. A connected car system is something again an option that might not be seen in this car yet.

Pricing?

The pricing of the car will remain mostly the same and the car is going to much cheaper as it will be made available with a petrol engine only.

we exxpect the pricing to be somewhere between Rs 7 lakhs to Rs 9 lakhs (ex-showroom).
