2020 KTM Duke 390 – What’s New?

The new 2020 KTM Duke 390 is the next avatar of bike that has become an icon in India for street racing, pocket-friendly performance, making the small displacement bike segment a place to watch out for and the 2020 edition of this bike will be just adding to the Orange madness. The new Duke 390 will be shown at EICMA later this year and will be subsequently launched next year, which will create some movement in the segment as other manufacturers are too readying their 300cc naked fighters. As for the current condition, the bike is at the top of the lineup in KTM but will be soon brought down by the Duke 790 which is supposed to come around early 2020.

The launch of the new KTM Duke 390 will be around mid of 2020 as it is expected to launch during the monsoons next year and it will be mostly shown first at the upcoming 2019 EICMA Show along with the KTM Duke 390 Adventure

2020 KTM Duke 390 Price

There might be an upgrade of the in the price due to all the new electronics, mechanics and a sure shot bump in power. This might result in an increase in price by Rs. 50,000, though we still hope the price of this bike remains under 3 lakhs, the tech and power that will be made available on this bike are going to make it expensive. The final price will be revealed around the month of launch.

2020 KTM Duke 390 Specifications

This bike already comes packed with a lot of electric features. To add to this now some customizations will be offered on the front USD forks. The new suspension won’t be completely customizable, but it will be linked with the riding modes. Rest of the electronics remain standard, a change of the geometry and swing arm, slight tweaks will be made to trellis frame and the position of the exhaust manifold will change.

There won’t be any major changes in the design of the current bike. We might get to see some new graphics and decal. A new color might be rare in a KTM Duke 390 but it would be good to see the black, green and purple combo that was offered on the KTM Duke 200 at the start. There might be a swap in the color on the tank and the trellis frame. The current bikes design is on point with its nature and changing it might have some risk to lose customers.

2020 Duke 390 What’s New

KTM has redesigned the new Duke 390 for release in 2020 and the global KTM best-seller will have a new frame, new geometry, new swingarm, and the overall dimensions of the bike will be slightly larger than the last iteration. Its 372cc engine is getting some improvements too in the form of a modified cylinder head and redesigned exhaust manifold.

The engine of the bike is the main reason why people buy this bike and if the bike gets a BS6 compliant engine we might see a drop in the power but that does not seem likely and plus the engine is going to be rebored and fitted with bigger pistons. The new Duke 390 might get customization modes in the throttle response and as the current bike already gets a ride by wire which has resulted in the smooth power access. In addition to this, the bike will make use of this technology to give the rider more customization settings.

2020 KTM Duke 390 Competition

The KTM Duke 390 will face big competitions from this segment. There is a lot of new entrants in this segment. For instance, the Kawasaki 300, BMW G310R, and Dominar 400 are bikes that come close to this bike. The major competition will be as the BS6 norms will reduce power. As that was the major selling point of the bike it will take a hit.
