The adventure touring segment in India has recently become a very important space to be in. Every manufacturer wants a piece of that pie. With this in mind, Hero has unveiled the 2019 XPulse 200T at EICMA this year. The bike is based on the Hero Xtreme 200R. So engine and many mechanical parts are the same.
“The adventure and touring motorcycle segments are very popular across the world and here we are showcasing Hero’s vision for these segments with the 2019 XPulse 200T based on our unique XPulse platform. We aim to further expand this platform and add more products to our portfolio by the second quarter of the next year. Concurrently, we have used the new XPulse 200T for a unique initiative of co-creating diverse concepts with customisation specialists, and showcased the engineering prowess of developing a versatile platform. This also provides us an opportunity to capture the growing trend of direct customer engagement while opening the door to a new line of businesses,” said Malo Le Masson, Head of Global Product Planning, Hero MotoCorp.
2019 Hero XPulse 200T Launch
The bike will be launched next year in 2019 along with the Hero XPulse 200. The 2019 XPulse 200T will be positioned as the tourer in this line-up. Hero has already got a fan base for the original XPulse and the bike has received a lot of credibility for being an incredible dirty bike. The Hero XPulse 200T will be another feather in the manufactures hat.
2019 Hero XPulse 200T Price
The estimated price of the Hero Xpulse 200 is around Rs 1 lakh. We can expect the Hero XPulse 200T to come in at heavier price tag. The added price tag will be for the added ability of the bike. The 2019 Hero XPulse 200T can fetch a price of around Rs 1.40 lakhs.
2019 Hero XPulse 200T Design
The bike has been designed keeping in mind the practical requirements of a touring motorcycle, with focus on ergonomics, and loading capability with its large luggage plate. The bike will be made in India with inputs from Hero’s international teams.
Also unlike the Xtreme 200R though, the XPulse 200T will be more feature-rich. In addition to LED lights, front and rear, the XPulse 200T will also feature single-channel ABS, and a full-digital speedometer with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The bike will not get traction control but we are hoping that the ABS can be switched off.
2019 Hero XPulse 200T Engine
The 2019 Hero XPulse 200T will be powered by the same 198 cc, single-cylinder two-valve engine that is shared with the Hero Xtreme 200R. On the Xtreme 200R, this engine puts out 18 bhp at 8,000 rpm, and 17.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. We expect the 2019 Hero XPulse 200T engine tuned for more torque. The bike should have adjustable forks too.
2019 Hero XPulse 200T Competition
Even with varying price ranges in this segment. People are always willing to spend more for a more capable bike. The 2019 Hero XPulse will compete directly with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW 310 GS.
