Hyundai has launched the i20 Active with prices starting at Rs 7.3lakhs (on-road, New Delhi). This is the new hatchback-based crossover from the Korean manufacturer that will compete with the likes of Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross and the Volkswagen Cross Polo. The i20 Active has a ground clearance more than the Elite i20 and it has body cladding too.

The i20 Active costs Rs 7.3 lakhs for the base model and the top-of-the-line diesel costs close to Rs 10 lakhs (on-road, Delhi). The petrol is available in two variants and the diesel comes in three variants. The petrol comes in 1.2, 1.2 S while the diesel gets 1.4, 1.4 S, 1.4 SV. The i20 Active is offered with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.4-litre diesel engine from the Elite i20, however the final gearing has been changed to accommodate the extra weight. This has resulted in lower fuel efficiency figure from ARAI. We have done a detailed story on that.

The i20 Active gets trendy interiors, while the Elite i20 has more premium styling. The i20 Active gets dual-tone interiors, of which one if black and the second option can be orange or blue. This is Hyundai’s second launch for this year after the Verna 4S, the next launch will be the Hyundai i10 AMT and then it will be the Elantra facelift. Around the festive season (during Diwali) Hyundai will be launching its second all-new product, the ix25, which is an SUV that will compete with the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano.
