Hyundai i20 Active doesn’t have a higher ground clearance, but it also has more torque when compared to the Elite i20. The engine power and torque are the same, however some changes have been made in the final drive gear ratios, which have improved the torque. The petrol engine is still the same 1.2-litre Kappa with a power of 82bhp and 115Nm, while the diesel is the 1.4-litre with a power output of 89bhp and 220Nm of peak torque.

However, the major difference that has happened on the i20 Active is the drivability, which would have been improved. With shorter final drive ratio, the performance will be enhanced however this affects the fuel efficiency. The fuel efficiency of the petrol i20 Active is 17.19km/l when compared to the Elite i20, which is at 18.24km/l and the mileage of the diesel i20 Active is 21.19km/l when compared to the Elite i20 at 22.54km/l.

The front headlamps are now projector and they even have LEDs in them, when compared to the Elite i20. The i20 Active gets a new design of alloy wheels, body cladding all-around, new front grille, new front and rear bumpers, higher ground clearance of 190mm and roof rails. On the inside, the i20 Active is offered with two colour trims, one is a orange colour and the other one is blue in colour. Our friends at Indian Autos Blog snapped the image of the bluish interior trim. The i20 Active will not be made available with a petrol automatic immediately, however the Korean manufacturer has plans to introduce it in a while to come. The i20 Active also gets aluminium foot pedals, which aren’t there in the Elite i20.
