Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has launched the Jeep brand in India.

Jeep has made its debut with three models – Jeep Wrangler Unlimited priced at INR 77.5 lakhs (on-road, New Delhi). Jeep Grand Cherokee priced at INR 1.01 crore, Grand Cherokee Summit for INR 1.1 crore and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, priced at INR 1.22 crore (all on-road, Delhi). Jeep has finally made it to India after a long wait. With the launch of the Jeep, FCA is looking at a new innings in the Indian market.

Jeep was launched with quite a fanfare at the Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur. This heritage venue was chosen to highlight the heritage value that Jeep carries.

Jeep has launched the new Wrangler Unlimited and Grand Cherokee. The latter is made available in Limited, Summit and SRT variants. So, technically there are two models when it comes to body styling. Jeep India has officially launched these products today.

Jeep India Engines

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine which generates 197 bhp and 451 Nm of torque. The power will be pushed to the wheels by a five-speed automatic gearbox. The Grand Cherokee is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that makes 240bhp of power and 570Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT comes with a  6.

4-litre HEMI V8 engine. The power plant of this vehicle makes 475 bhp of power and a max torque of 644 Nm. The power will spin the wheels with the help of an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

FCA already has around 20 dealerships for Jeep in place, across metro cities. It aims to increase its strength soon. Jeep products are aimed at enthusiasts and connoisseurs who value heritage along with muscular looking SUVs. While the Jeep Wrangler is a hard core off-roading machine, the Grand Cherokee adds luxury and premium. All three vehicles are brought to India via the CBU (completely built unit) route.

Jeep is expected to launch a new C-SUV next year, which will be priced under INR 20 lakhs. The company aims to capitalize on this market.
