Renault LBC to compete with Maruti DZire

Renault LBC is the next project after the Kwid. This is a new compact sedan that will be competing with the Maruti DZire. Renault will be entering the compact sedan segment with this new model. The French auto maker will continue its foray its the compact car market with more products. the LBC will be the first one of the lot. Based on the same platform it should carry forward the Kwid design language.

Renault LBC Platform

The Renault LBC is based on the CMF-A+ platform. This has been developed to make bigger cars and hold on to the vibrations and stress from bigger engines. This platform will work for petrol and even diesel engines. The LBC will be competing in a segment that has a good percent of sale for petrol and even diesel engines, hence there will be diesel engines too.

Renault LBC Engines

The Renault LBC is likely to get a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engines. Both these engines will be coming with a five-speed manual transmission and there will be AMT on offer too. The power of the petrol engine will be between 70-80bhp, while the diesel will be about 65-70bhp. Both these engines will have good drivability and even fuel efficiency will be one of the most important criteria.

Renault LBC Mileage

A bit too early to predict. But the CMF-A platform has been designed to have good performance and even good mileage. The light weight platform makes it good at fuel-efficiency. Expect the petrol to return about 12km/l in city driving, while on the highway it should be about 18km/l. The diesel engine will have an efficiency of 15km/l, while on an open highway it will have an efficiency of 20km/l.

Renault LBC Price

Renault LBC price will be about INR 5.5 lakhs to INR 9 lakhs (on-road). The LBC will be a compact sedan as it will be a locally built product and hence it will be priced competitively. This will give the French brand an advantage. As the company is looking at increasing its dealerships, it should be ready till the launch of the LBC.

Renault LBC Launch Date

Renault will be launching the LBC by early 2018. Next year it plans to get the MUV and mostly even the SUV. The compact sedan should come in by 2018. This will add a lot more variety to the Renault portfolio. The company is already working on the CMF-A platform vehicles and even other bigger ones too.
