This is one of the most crucial factors. The Dominar has been priced very aggressively. The prices start from INR 1.5 lakhs (on- road, Delhi), for the non ABS version.  The 2017 KTM Duke 390 is expected to be slightly higher than the existing Duke 390 at around INR 2.2 lakhs (on-road, Delhi). The increase in price will be mainly due to the new upgrades. Bajaj has made the Dominar 400 a better value for money compared to the Duke 390. However, The 2017 KTM Duke 390 will offer more features, more power and it also has a better brand image.

Bajaj Dominar 400 vs 2017 KTM Duke 390 Performance

Both bikes have the same capacity engine which is 373cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder. But here is where the 2017 KTM Duke 390 will have an advantage. The 2017 Duke 390 is expected to produce about 43bhp of power, while the Dominar 400 has 35bhp. In terms of outright performance, the Duke 390 has a upper hand with more power and lesser weight. The Dominar 400 is tuned for a more relaxed kind of cruising. As most of the youth buyers are very-much budget focused, Bajaj has offered something more affordable. The performance characteristics of both bikes are quite different.

The 2017 KTM Duke 390 will have a few more features than the Dominar 400. It will have a larger front disc brake. ABS will be standard. It will get a TFT screen on the instrument panel, something which the Dominar lacks. Both bikes have a slipper clutch and dual channel ABS.  The base model of the Dominar 400 does not offer ABS. Additionally the 2017 Duke 390 will have Ride-by-Wire technology.

This is an area which marks a significant difference in the character of both bikes. The Duke 390 is a street fighter and the Dominar 400 is a power cruiser. The Duke 390 offers extremely sharp handling and is a fun to ride machine. The Dominar 400 in comparison is a front heavy bike. The Dominar 400 is significantly heavier than the Duke 390 and hence offers better highway cruising abilities. The lighter weight of the Duke 390 helps in maneuvering the bike better, though. The Dominar 400 has more comfortable seats for long distance riding, while the Duke 390 has a on-the-go kind of stance. The tyres too are different. The Dominar 400 comes with special soft compound MRF tyres, whereas the Duke 390 gets imported Metzelers, which enhance the handling and braking of the bike to a great extent.
