Tata Sierra – Will it be a 3-door or a 5-door?
The Tata Sierra, when first launched in 1991 took the market by storm with its not-so-typical design. Even though the Sierra only saw a decade’s run, the futuristic design made it stay with the car enthusiasts forever. The Tata Motors emporium in the Auto Expo 2020 showcased this iconic product in a modern avatar. Although the Sierra might be a far-fetched product, we in this article will ponder upon whether it will come as a 3-door or a 5-door, if Tata finally decides to actually revive this product.
Exterior
The wrap-around glass on the Tata Sierra clearly differentiated it from other products. If Tata actually plans to bring the Sierra to the market, we are confident that the wrap-around glass will stay on the new product as well. Tata would retain the original design language, which was the main reason behind this product’s success.
Moreover, the Tata Sierra would follow the Impact 2.0 design language, similar to what it is doing with all its modern products. We expect the Sierra to sport a headlight setup very similar to the Harrier, the Safari and the upcoming HBX. Split headlamps with the main unit taking a lower position and DRLs taking the higher spot are expected.
Platform
The Tata Sierra will be based on the Omega-Arc platform which underpins Tata’s modern SUV offerings like the Harrier and the Safari. With the Omega-Arc platform, Tata would be able to bring the Sierra with a 4X4 drivetrain, meaning it could really be marketed as an off-roading product.
Engine
The Sierra is expected to sport the same 2.0-litre Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine, which powers the Harrier and the Safari. The Sierra, however, is expected to get a re-tuned engine that would generate more power than the Harrier and the Safari.
Tata Sierra future possibilities
Although the concept was shown as a 5-door, we as an enthusiast, wish that the Sierra retains its original design of a 3-door. Moreover, seeing the modern trends, it could come in as an EV also, becoming ready for the future. Also, the Sierra is expected to sit somewhere around the Harrier.
