The new Scorpio has been a hot topic for the many months now, but the past week saw this craze going to the next level. The reason behind this was Mahindra posting the first teaser of the Scorpio. The teaser might not have given out a lot of details but it was enough to underline the fact that Mahindra is targeting a lot of products with this one single SUV. Now, we have obtained a video of the new Mahindra Scorpio off-roading. In today’s article, we will be discussing this as well as everything we know so far about the Scorpio.

The video of the new Mahindra Scorpio off-roading was posted by Instagram handle which goes by the name ‘rajasthanmotorsport’. The video was taken with a negative filter on, but it is easy to identify that this is the new Scorpio. Coming to the video, we can see the Scorpio dune bashing at high speed. So will the Scorpio be the most-capable off-roader in this segment? Only time will tell this. Unsurprisingly, this video has now been deleted from the said Insta handle. But if you want to check out the video, you can check it out on MotorOctane’s Instagram handle.

The off-roading leak comes just days after Mahindra posted the first teaser video of the Scorpio. In the teaser, we get the first glimpses of the new Scorpio. We can see LED headlamps and C-shaped DRLs on the bumper, something which we had confirmed long ago. Mahindra is calling the new Scorpio as the ‘Big Daddy of SUVs’.

Other expected things

The new Scorpio will be based on the new 3rd-generation ladder-on-frame chassis that underpins the new Thar and the Bolero Neo. Other highlights will be a new grille and Volvo-esque LED taillamps. Interiors will also get a complete makeover with a new dashboard and leatherette seating. The new Scorpio will also come with six and seven-seater options. We can now confirm the third-row seats will be front facing and not side-facing.

Powertrains

So what engines will the new Scorpio sport? We expect Scorpio to borrow engines from the XUV700 and the Thar. A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine could see their way to this car. Mahindra could tune the engine differently for the Scorpio. Both engines will come with manual and automatic engine options. The diesel engine will also get an optional 4×4 setup.
