Mahindra XUV700 has hit the right mark to see great success. Currently, the XUV700 sees a waiting period of over 18 months. Due to this, many buyers are looking at other products other than the XUV700. Now, Mahindra is ready with the new generation of Scorpio which we expect to see launch next month. The brand has already released the first teaser of the new-gen car. So, is waiting for the XUV700 still worth it? In this article on new-generation Scorpio vs XUV700, we answer this question.

Is the design of new Scorpio worth the wait?

Scorpio new-generation vs XUV700

The Mahindra XUV700 looks very decent and subtle. The new-generation Scorpio looks tall and bold. Through certain leaks, it is clearly visible that it would be taller than the Ford Endeavour. For people who like the bold and boxy design language on an SUV, the Scorpio might be a perfect choice. The XUV700, on the other hand looks more modern and in line with other cars in its segment, the Scorpio will definitely be a unique case in itself.

Will the engines be worth it?

The new Scorpio is expected to share its engine with the Thar and the XUV700. This means it would run on a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine that produces 150bhp and 300Nm of torque. And the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine produces 153bhp and 360Nm of torque. Both these engines could see their position in the Scorpio. These engines could be mated to a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. These are very powerful engines and would make driving the Scorpio even more exciting. So, yes, the engines on the new Scorpio will be worth the wait. Moreover, the new Scorpio is also expected to come with a 4X4 drivetrain for focused off-roading.

There will be a huge update in terms of features as well. The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio is expected to share quite a few features with the XUV700. This could include auto booster headlamps, personalised safety alerts, etc. The new Scorpio would get a semi-digital instrument cluster for better readability, connected car tech, dual-zone climate control, third-row AC vents, and the normal electric sunroof. We also expect a premium sound system to be on offer.

New-generation Scorpio vs XUV700 – Will the pricing be worth it?

The new Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be placed below the XUV700, thus costing less. It is expected to start with an aggressive price of Rs 10 lakhs (ex-showroom). So, considering this would make more sense for the SUV buyers in this segment. All-in-all, if you are in the market and are planning to buy the XUV700, considering all the factors, it definitely becomes a sensible decision for you to wait for the upcoming next-generation Scorpio.
