When a best selling bike needs something ‘extra’, it gets an X-factor. That’s exactly what the Hero Passion X Pro is all about.

The Passion Pro has just got a lot more jazzier with the X Pro. It gets new elements to enhance its style quotient. The Hero Passion Pro is targeted at the youth for whom style is as important as comfort and durability.  Thus, the Passion X Pro caters to such buyers who are not contended with everyday looks. What are these enhancements that the Passion X Pro has? Lets find out.

Design

Hero Passion X Pro 3

The Hero Passion X Pro gets a lot of exciting elements that make it attractive in its segment. It has a stylish headlamp console or bikini fairing with a large headlamp. There are a pair of pilot lamps above it. The turn indicators ate clear lens elongated ones which look good. There is a short windshield on the bikini fairing and the mirrors have a dual tone colour which is a combination of the body colour and black. The fuel tank is different from the Passion Pro and it also gets shrouds on the side.

These shrouds make the bike look quite sporty. The taillamp is also very attractive and it glows in an ‘X’ pattern.

The instrument cluster is a new one and is more attractive and stylish than its sibling. It is a combination of analogue and digital, but is more funkier than the one on the Passion Pro. The Passion X Pro is also slightly longer than the Passion Pro. However, it has a smaller fuel tank at 9.5 litres. The Passion X pro also gets a black treatment like the Passion Pro. The alloy wheels, engine and exhaust are black in colour, which makes it even more sportier. This theme gels well with the bike and its character. The Passion X Pro gets five spoke alloy wheels which are borrowed from the Super Splendor and are different from the Passion Pro.

Engine

The Hero Passion X Pro is based on the Passion Pro. It uses the same chassis, engine, suspension and electricals. The engine is a 110cc single cyclinder, air-cooled one. It produces 9.4bhp of power and 9Nm of torque.

The gearbox is also the same 4-speed one, with an all-down shift pattern. In terms of performance it no different form the Passion Pro. It feels smooth and the torque is again concentrated in the low to mid range.

The Passion X Pro also gets Hero’s i3S technology. Now this technology is being made available in other bikes from Hero as well. The i3S technology allows one to save fuel while travelling in the city. The bike automatically shuts down when on idle. The engine restarts once the clutch is depressed. This also happens pretty quick, so one needn’t waste time in it.

Ride and Handling

The Passion X Pro is a better handler as it gets a slightly stiffer suspension setup, that helps it build a sporty character. Those who like to ride a bit more enthusiastically will be pleased with this bike. It also gets an option of a disc brake, at the front. The rear is a drum unit. Braking on this bike is pretty progressive, not giving much room to complain. The Passion X Pro also gets tubeless tyres. We were quite impressed with way this bike runs and the engines are smooth too. The seat is different from the Passion Pro and not exactly as comfortable. However, a rider and pillion can be seated easily and be comfortable too.

Mileage

Though the ARAI mileage figures are yet not declares, we reckon that the bike will return around 55-60 km/l in daily driving conditions.

Verdict

The Hero Passion X Pro is a new entrant and has yet to prove itself. But given that it is similar in most aspects to the Passion Pro, it will be high on reliability and robustness. Now, if you want the traits of a commuter bike like reliability, robustness and flexibility, but if you want extra style and uniqueness, then the Hero Passion X pro is a good choice.
