A Tata car that can be driven without a driver. Yes, this is true and it will be the next big thing. Tata Motors, Jaguar Land Rover and Ford are together testing this. The initial tests were done on a closed track, but now it has been moved on to the streets of Coventry in UK. This city was once the hub for motoring with many car brands existing here.

With time, things started to fade and most of the brands withered due to losses or labour strikes.

Tata Hexa is being tested for autonomous driving and the Range Rover Sport is also a part of this testing. With both these vehicles being tested, this will offer an opportunity for the Indian automaker to excel in this department.

This is one of the largest ever public road testing by anyone. It is being conducted by UK AutoDrive. Right now, Google and even Apple seem to testing self-driving cars. Both these are testing it out in California.

Tata Motors has been working on multiple exciting aspects to be future ready. The company will be delivering 10,000 units of the Tigor electric to the Gujarat state government. There is work going on autonomous driving and other means to add more to its portfolio. The company is looking to have a global footprint and not just stick to India. With its new range of products coming up soon, there is a new set of SUVs that will be built on the Land Rover platform and exported to multiple markets. This will have good off-roading capabilities and shall offer good enough performance, high quality materials and driving dynamics too.

This can be an exciting product that will go up against other European brands like Volkswagen, Skoda, Fiat and others in the European and North American market. This new SUV is likely to be built in the company’s  (JV plant with Fiat) Ranjangaon or Pimpri plant. The engine will be coming from the Ranjangaon plant and it will be shared with FCA.
