The Monte Carlo version has been discontinued as per the Court order. Monte Carlo is registered by a fashion clothing brand that took the Czech automaker to court.

hence, the name has been changed to Skoda Rapid Edition X. This will be the same vehicle apart from the change in name. Skoda Rapid had got an update last year and now it continues to sell in decent numbers. The first Rapid was seen in 2012 and since then there have been multiple changes in the design. The diesel engine also got changed and a new 1.5-litre was on offer. This came with seven-speed DSG also.

There are multiple new features on offer too. The Skoda Rapid Edition X is a limited edition and it does get some changes too.

On the outside, the changes are a two-tone paint scheme, with a contrast roof. Different 16-inch alloy wheels, black radiator grille and even gloss black ORVMs. The other add-ons include black trunk lid spoiler, black grained rear diffuser and black roof foil. There was Monte Carlo badge on the B-pillar, but that has been taken off now.

On the inside, there aren’t too many tweaks. The steering wheel is flat-bottom and has leather stitching on the wheel and gear knob. There is a contrasting red stitching too. The Monte Carlo badge is now off, as it is called as Edition X. There are stainless steel foot pedals, piano black AC vents and even sporty mats with red stitching. Apart from there are no other changes. All the changes that are made on the vehicle are cosmetic. There are no new additional features on offer, so no new bells and whistles have been added to it.

There will not be any changes in the pricing. It is likely to remain the same at Rs 10.8 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol model. This was the exact pricing even for the Rapid Monte Carlo. Skoda will continue with the same pricing. We aren’t certain on the exact number of units that are made available for this edition.

Engine and Specifications

There is a 1.6-litre petrol engine that churns about 103bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. This engine is made available with five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission. This engine is more tuned for mileage and has decent performance. It isn’t stonker of a performer. For that, you will have to go for the 1.5-litre diesel engine. This mill churns about 100bhp of power and comes with five-speed manual and seven-speed DSG options.

There is no 1.2-litre turbo petrol on the Rapid, only VW is only it on the Polo and the Vento.
