Jeep Compass Petrol Automatic arrives at dealerships

Jeep Compass Petrol automatics have already started arriving at Jeep dealerships. These are some of the images of the new petrol SUV that have reached. Jeep had launched the Compass in a few months ago, but the petrol engine was still due to come in.

It has finally arrived and Jeep is now looking at getting the petrol manual and automatic to its buyers at the earliest.

Jeep Compass Petrol Engine

The Jeep Compass petrol engine will be a 1.4-litre turbo petrol, which is the same T-Jet engine as on the Linea and the Abarth, except it has more power. This enigne churns about 160bhp of power and 250Nm of maximum torque. This engine will come mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DDCT (dual clutch transmission). The petrol manual is available only in the Sport variant and the automatic comes with the Limited variant. It is the diesel manual that has been made available on all the variants of the Compass.

At the moment, the Jeep Compass petrol competes with the Hyundai Tucson. Both of them are petrol manual and automatic options, and neither of them has 4×4 in petrol. Hyundai Tucson recently introduced the 4WD version and even reduced the pricing of its vehicles. The Tucson still has a lot of imported parts, while the Compass is highly localised. Hence there is a difference in the pricing of the two.

We learn that Hyundai is looking at increasing the localisation further to reduce their pricing and make the Tucson more competitive.

The Compass diesel automatic will come in next year. This will have a nine-speed automatic transmission.

This might see a major bump up in the pricing of the vehicle and it will mean a good increment in the pricing too. So, we expect the price of the Compass Automatic to be about Rs 1.5 lakhs more than the regular 4×2 manual Compass. Hence, it will be more expensive than the 4×4 Compass. We aren’t also certain if the 4×4 and automatic will come in together. Jeep also has Wrangler and Grand Cherokee as two of its other models that are currently on sale in its India showrooms.
