Kia’s new plant in India is already under construction in Anantapur, Andra Pradesh. One of our readers from Anantapur has shared some of the images of the plant. Kia has announced it will be making its entry into India by 2019.
These are the images from the Anantapur plant, which is already under construction. Kia is Hyundai’s sister concern company and it has been looking at entering India for a while.

This plant is being located in Anantapur, as it isn’t too far from Hyundai’s Tamil Nadu plant and the duo can share their vendors as well. As Kia and Hyundai will be sharing the same set of platforms, it will make it strategically easy for the duo to come up together. Kia Motors is speculated to get a Creta, Elite i20 and XCent competition vehicles. In the near future, there will even be Verna size sedan and also something as small as the Eon too.
Kia’s initial goal will be to set-up its network and get lesser new products. Kia has already been doing dealer roadshows to showcase its new vehicles.
Kia seems to one strong brand that could have an entry into India, which will be due to backing from Hyundai. The current Kia boss, was heading Hyundai India operations once. This will give them an added advantage and with already localisation existing for the brand. Looking at the images, this is still the early stages of the construction.
Kia will still take some while for the plant to get ready. Kia Motors, SAIC and the Peugeot are three major car brands coming to India. These brands are looking at localising their products and introducing in India. This will make them an exciting product for the Indian car market. Maruti has seen a major jump in its market share with the launch of new products as most of the other automakers have pulled back their investment.
