The Volvo XC40 has been launched at ₹39.9 lakhs (ex-showroom). This is an introductory price. The SUV will be a new chapter for Volvo in India. This is Volvo’s entry level SUV in India. Volvo has been aggressive in launching new products here. The XC90 was the first modern SUV, followed by the XC60 and now the XC40 is here. This SUV is derived from the 40.1 concept of Volvo.

The Volvo XC40 takes a leap in offering high levels of safety and is considered the safest in its category. The new XC40 is the first model to be built on a new modular vehicle architecture (CMA), which will underpin all other upcoming cars in the 40 Series, including electric vehicles. Co-developed within Geely, CMA provides the company with the necessary economies of scale and hence is expected to be priced competitively. The vehicle also takes a lot of inspiration from its elder sibling – the XC90.

At the unveil, Volvo Car India Managing Director Charles Frump said, “The launch of XC40 and our aggressive dealer expansion of one new dealer per month this year are the key success factors in achieving our ambition of doubling segment share by 2020.”
