Mahindra had procured the rights for the Jawa brand and recently it even took over the Yezdi rights. Anad Mahindra recently tweeted about Yezdi making a comeback. This will be an all new bike that shall be launched. Mahindra’s 2Wheeler business has been struggling in India, even though it has acquired many marvels like Kinetic, Peugeot Scooters, Jawa, BSA and very recently even Yezdi. These have been iconic brands at some time and have a high brand value attached to it. Yezdi 350 is likely to make a comeback very soon.
The Jawa 350 that was revealed earlier this year should be coming to India as Yezdi 350. This new bike will be manufactured in Mahindra’s Pithampura plant. The new bike was revealed in Europe recently. It carries forward the 350 engine badge. However this is an all new engine. It doesn’t have 2-stroke this time, rather 4-stroke. This has been done to meet the new emission norms of Euro-VI not just in Europe but in countries across the world. We expect this new brand to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.

At the 2018 Auto Expo, the new bike will be making its debut. The bike’s production won’t commence anytime soon. The new bike shall be unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo. We expect the Yezdi 350 to be launched by mid 2018 or late 2018. This will an all new bike, built on a new platform. Mahindra had hinted to launch of these new bike brands in 2018/19 and we reckon this will be the first of the bikes.
The Pithampura plant where other Mahindra 2Ws are made will manufacture this new bike. This will not just be made for the Indian market but even for exports. There has been a demand for retro fashioned bikes and Mahindra will want to attract these buyers into its portfolio. Mahindra has been rapidly expanding its 2W business outside of India. The Peugeot scooters will be targeting Vespa in the North American market. BSA and Jawa will also target different set of customers.
Price (without road tax) | Rs 1.2 lakh |
To begin with things, the Yezdi 350 will be going up against the Royal Enfield. This brand has made a comeback, but we are pretty sure that Mahindra will be looking at pricing it aggressively. To compete with the Royal Enfield, it will be priced to under cut it. Pricing it more than the RE might not help the case, as the younger audience doesn’t have much of a connect with the Yezdi brand. So, we expect the pricing to start at INR 1.2 lakhs (without road tax).
