Honda XRE 300 Price in India, Launch Date, Specifications

It seems that Honda has been gearing to launch anew 300cc adventure bike in India. This will be the Honda XRE 300. Designed as an off-roader, this will be the company’s first adventure motorcycle in the budget segment for India. What is more, the new XRE 300 will be making its entry into India soon it seems as one of them has been spotted in India. Honda is already working on an adventure bike for India, one of them is the Africa Twin and it seems the second one is this. Learn more about this bike, read further.

Honda XRE 300 Design

An all new bike that will be making its way into India this year. Honda has announced it will be launching four new products this year. Two of them are motorcycles. We reckon one of them is this. The Hero Impulse was the first 150cc adventure bike in India, however it didn’t do well as the engine was underpowered. Now, it seems Honda is ready to enter this segment with a new bike. The bike does look stylish and the Honda XRE 300 comes with a 259mm ground clearance.

There is a large fender like other off-road bikes. The design language is similar to the Impulse, anyways Hero had borrowed the technology from Honda itself.

The fuel tank is sleek and the Honda XRE 300 comes with spokes. The exhaust is mounted higher for better off roading. The tail lamp small and simple in design. Honda had updated the bike in 2017 as it offered it with a digital instrument cluster. The first bike was launched in 2009. This LCD screen makes it feel expensive. Up front it gets a long travel fork and the rear has a mono shock. The front wheels are 21-inches, while the rear has 18-inch.

Honda XRE 300 Engine and Transmission

A single cylinder 300cc engine powers the Honda XRE 300. This engine churns about 25bhp of power and more importantly 27Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a five-speed transmission and it redlines at about 8500rpm. This isn’t very high revving engine. It is more about the torque. This might be the first long stroke engine Honda could get to India. In the future it is working on a Royal Enfield competition bike. This one is also likely to have a long stroke engine, which could be an indication that it will be the same 300cc mill.

Honda XRE 300 Mileage

Too early to give an exact figure. But the new Honda XRE 300 will be returning about 25-30km/l. As this is a long stroke, the mileage should be better than other 300cc bikes. However, it might have shorter ratios. We can say more as we come closer to the launch.

We reckon this new Honda bike should make it into the Indian bike market by the end of 2017. Or latest by March 2018 after its unveil at the 2018 Auto Expo.

There are a few new bikes coming up in this segment. This includes the KTM 390 Adventure and the BMW G310GS. Both will be launched in the next two years in India.
