Recently, we wrote a story on the most reliable cars under Rs 10 lakh. Now, J.D Power, one of the most trusted organisations has revealed a report on reliable cars in India. It has segregated cars from different segments and chose the most reliable car. Talking about the price segment of Rs 7 lakh, it was the Tata Tiago which surprisingly scored the most in terms of reliability.

The Most Reliable Car In India

According to the J.D Power new car reliability survey, the Tata Tiago scored 112 points to become the most reliable car under Rs 7 lakh. Users reported the least concerns with the Tata hatchback in terms of both design and defect related issues. The only other car to perform better in the compact segment was the Maruti Celerio with 124 points, while the segment average was 126 points. Here, the lesser the better is the criteria to become a reliable car.

The Process

J.D Power performs a strict survey among the owners of the cars before arriving at the final score. The study includes parameters like – exterior, driving experience, features, controls, displays, seats, audio and communication, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, interior, & engine & transmission. The organisation also studies everything about design-related problems and defects and malfunctions.

The survey has been carried out among 7,198 new-vehicle owners in 25 major cities of India. The owners are asked 200 odd questions related to their product experience in the initial months post purchase. Post survey, the responses are cleaned for data quality and calculations. Further, the brands are ranked according to the problems per 100 vehicles. And in the process, the car with the lowest score is considered to offer better quality.

Reliable Car In India – Tata Tiago

So with the survey conducted, Tata Tiago became the most reliable car under Rs 7 lakh. It is one of the finest Tata cars with a timeless design. It has been years since the car received a thoro update but still looks fresh inside and out. What also goes in its favour is the build quality. Even though it is an entry level segment car, the Tiago successfully scored 4-star safety rating at the Global NCAP crash test facility.
