5 SUVs That Look Better In Black

For the past few years, automakers have been keen on launching some or the other Special Editions in India. Among all the special editions, Dark Edition or Black Edition has been the most popular. The trend was first started with the Tata Harrier Dark Edition and soon many brands joined by introducing all black themes to their respective SUVs. So let’s take a look at 5 SUVs that look better in black.

Black SUVs – Tata Harrier & Tata Safari

Now since we have mentioned Tata Motors as the trend setter, let’s talk about the Dark Editions of its SUVs. The brand first introduced the Dark Edition on the Harrier back in 2019. Today, that continues on with both the Harrier and the Safari facelifts along with other Tata models like the Altroz and Nexon. With the dark edition, Tata offers black glossy colour for the body with blacked-out alloy wheels. In fact the chrome elements on the regular model have been blacked-out for better visual appeal. The dark theme also continues on the inside of the SUVs. It gets an all black interior with black leatherette seats and black roof lining.

Mahindra XUV700

A couple of months back, Mahindra launched the Black Edition of the XUV700. For Mahindra, it is not just the black edition as they even introduced a few missing features. Coming to the black edition XUV700, the SUV gets a new Napoli Black body paint with dechromed elements. The grille has also been completely blacked-out along with the 18-inch alloy wheels. For interiors however, Mahindra continues to offer the bright colour theme on black edition XUV700. That said, you have no option for all black interiors on the XUV700.

Black SUVs – Volkswagen Taigun

One of the brands which is popular to introduce special editions for its cars is the Volkswagen Group. We have already seen dozens of editions on its present cars like the VW Taigun and VW Virtus. Recently, VW launched the GT Line & GT Plus Sport variants of the Taigun. As part of these variants, VW is offering an all black theme on the Taigun SUV. So just like other black SUVs, the Taigun gets black body paint along with blacked-out alloy wheels and dechromed treatments. However, what’s interesting is that the Taigun gets red coloured brake callipers for sporty appeal. Lastly, the interiors are also all black with red colour stitching on the black leatherette seats.

Hyundai Creta N Line

Another SUV to join the trend is the recently launched Hyundai Creta facelift. However, it is the Hyundai Creta N Line to offer black theme as the regular Creta gets only black paint as an option. So the Creta N Line comes in various colour options wherein the treatment for the interior and other elements is standard. That said, the SUV gets an option for black colour with blacked-out alloy wheels. Now being N Line or the sportier version, the SUV gets red highlights on the outside which has been done pretty neatly. The interiors are also all-black with red accents for sportier appeal.

Black SUVs – Tata Nexon & Nexon EV

Finally, we again have SUVs from the family of Tata Motors – the Nexon & the Nexon EV. Just like the Harrier & Safari, the Nexon & its EV version received a significant facelift in 2023. However, they missed on dark editions at the time of the launch. That said, the brand did launch the dark editions just a month back. So just like other dark edition cars of Tata Motors, the Nexon & Nexon EV gets an all black colour theme, both on the outside and on the inside. The dark theme complements the unique design of both these SUVs, giving them a distinctive look.
