Jeep Compass – Specifications 

In a recent instance, Jeep has offered a new 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine for Compass. This engine is capable of producing a whopping 268bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. This engine is powerful enough to take the Compass from 0 to 100 in 6.3 seconds. The Compass already has a sorted ride and handling balance and with all this additional power, driving Jeep Compass will be fun.

Is it coming to India?

Currently in India, Jeep Compass is available with a sole 2.0-litre diesel engine. It is the same unit which also does duties on the Harrier and the Hector. So will Jeep bring the powerful version in India? Well, a petrol variant is on cards but it is not the new 2.0-litre unit. Jeep is planning to bring a rather smaller, 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine in India.

That said, you can still experience this engine in India. Jeep currently sells SUVs like the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee, both equipped with the same 2.0-litre unit. Also, the power figures are identical at 268bhp and 400Nm for both Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. However, both these SUVs are huge and heavier than the Compass and so, you may not feel the eagerness of this engine while driving any of these SUVs.

Jeep Compass facelift coming

In the coming few months, Jeep will be launching the Compass facelift in India. Currently the SUV is facing tough competition from the Tata Harrier and other SUVs. But that doesn’t mean the Compass lacks equipment. It is a feature packed SUV with a premium cabin. However, the road presence, spacious cabin for five adults, advanced features and technology of the Harrier, makes it a better choice!
