New Creta rivals

Renault and Nissan are working on four new products for the Indian market. Both brands also released teaser images of the upcoming C-SUVs that would be based on the brand’s CMF-B platform. Though Renault didn’t confirm it, this C-SUV could sport the Duster nameplate. The teased image does have some changes to the globally unveiled model. In comparison, the Nissan version looks more futuristic with connected LED DRLs and an aggressive grille.

What more to expect?

Both these SUVs will be made specifically for the Indian market. Hopefully, both brands offer decent enough features as they are very important in this segment. Engine duties could be handled by the 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine options that the brand uses on the Duster sold globally. Renault could also bring the 1.2-litre plug-in hybrid engine, this move could revolutionise the hybrid segment in India.

New Creta rivals – Launch timelines

Renault is expected to bring its C-SUV by Diwali 2025, which is still a long way away. The French brand should look to fast-track the development and try to launch the car early. Nissan’s version is going to be launched in a similar time frame to Renault’s. After that, the brands will launch the seven-seater iterations of these SUVs. Along with these four products, the brand plans to launch two more products, but there is uncertainty about exactly which models these could be. We think one of them could be the Ariya sometime this year.
