Car of the Year – Toyota Innova Hycross

The Toyota Innova Hycross won our prestigious “Car of the Year” award. Though it was launched in December 2022, deliveries of the car begin in January and that is why we have considered it for the 2023 awards. Toyota took a huge gamble by bringing a hybrid Innova, but it has worked like a charm for the brand. Overall as a product, the Innova is quite sorted with a good blend of features and efficiency. The only sore point of the Innova is the cheap plastic used in some parts, which shouldn’t be on a Rs 30 lakh car.

Game Changer of the Year – Tata Nexon facelift

The winner of the “Game Changer Award” is the Nexon facelift. The Nexon is Tata’s best seller and the brand took it a step further with the facelift. In the facelift, Tata introduced a new exterior design making the Nexon look more futuristic. In the interiors, it introduced several new features like 10.25-inch infotainment, digital instrument cluster, 9-speaker JBL system, blind view monitor, Harman AudioworX, height adjustable driver and co-driver seat. It also introduced the new DCA gearbox. So all in all, the Nexon did get a lot of new things in the facelift.

Green Car of the Year – Hyundai IONIQ 5

The Green Car of the Year is the Hyundai IONIQ-5 launched at the Auto Expo of 2023. With a price of Rs 50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), the IONIQ-5 does offer a lot of value. It comes with powerful motors, good range and premium interiors. Hyundai’s move to bring it as a CKD instead of a CBU has certainly helped the IONIQ-5 sell better than the EV6.

Luxury Car of the Year – Mercedes-Benz GLC

The last category in cars is the Luxury Car of the Year which is the Mercedes-Benz GLC. As a product, the GLC comes with enjoyable dynamics and premium interiors. If we talk about the cons, the ride is slightly firm and all-touch controls can be painful sometimes. The GLC has been a very popular model for Mercedes-Benz, and will certainly be hoping that the new model also has the same level of success.

MotorOctane Awards 2024 – Scooter of the Year – Ola S1X

Starting the two-wheeler segment with the Scooter of the Year, which was won by Ola S1X. The S1X is the most affordable model in the Ola lineup. It starts from Rs 80,000, making it quite competitive even against some ICE scooters. Battery-size-wise, the S1X comes with three options – 2kWh, 3kWh and 4kWh. The S1X is based on Ola’s new ‘Gen 2’ e-scooter platform, it also gets a flat floorboard thanks to the redesigned frame that has been used here.

MotorOctane Awards 2024 – Motorcycle of the Year – KTM Duke 390

Lastly, we have the Motorcycle of the Year which is the KTM Duke 390. The Duke 390 faced some stiff competition from the likes of the Triumph Speed 400, and Harley Davidson X440. Talking about the new Duke 390 comes with a bigger engine and a new frame. This has made the Duke 390 even more sportier and fun to ride. Though it has become sportier, it is more city-friendly due to the more agile frame.
