The 7-seater market in India is dominated by one name and that is the Maruti Ertiga. A lot of competitors have come, but have instead become minor players in this segment. Now MG is also looking to try out its luck with a new MPV. MG is taking a different approach by bringing an electric MPV. Currently, EVs are niche, but in the future, we could see them dethrone ICE options. So if MG plays it right, its EV MPV could be a good rival to the Ertiga. In today’s article, let’s talk about this MG Ertiga rival.

As stated above, the Wuling Cloud is sold in Indonesia. In terms of dimensions, the Cloud is 4,295mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,652mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,700mm. Overall the dimensions are almost identical to the Ertiga. In Indonesia, the Cloud EV comes with a 134bhp motor paired with a 50.6kWh. In India, we could see something along similar lines. The overall design of the Cloud EV is expected to remain the same, but we could see an MG logo at the front and a few tweaks.

The next product from MG could be a rugged SUV based on the MG Comet. It is expected to be the Baojun Yep SUV that the brand has already patented in the country. Dimension-wise, the Yep is slightly longer than the Comet. Overall it comes with a tall boy design giving it more road presence than the Comet. The interiors are almost identical to the Comet with some minor changes like a three-spoke steering wheel, glovebox and coloured elements on the dashboard. Other features are 10.25-inch dual screens, a rotary gearbox, a 360-degree camera, electrically adjustable seats, a rearview camera and heated front seats. MG could launch around the festive season.
