Volkswagen is trying to expand its portfolio to cater to a wide variety of customers. In India, it plans to launch its first EV and also the new Tiguan. Along with the Tiguan, it also has plans to launch a new 7-seater SUV in India called the Tayron. Earlier this year, the exterior of the car was leaked online, and now the interiors have surfaced online. In today’s article, let’s talk about this upcoming Fortuner rival.

The interior layout of the Tayron is largely similar to the new Tiguan. Coming to the dashboard it has a minimalistic look but is loaded screens. The Tayron comes with three screens that comprise the infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and a screen for the co-passenger. Then we have a flat centre console with a drive mode selector, wireless charging and storage space. The third and second rows are not visible in the spy shots, so space management remains a mystery for now.

The wheelbase is also 111mm longer than the Tiguan. Design-wise, the Tayron looks a lot similar to the new Tiguan. In the side profile, the SUV comes with no cuts or creases. The rear is quite busy compared to the rest of the design, with unique tail lamps with a connecting strip in the middle.

Specifications

The Tayron is based on the new MQB EVO platform; this platform also underpins the new Skoda Kodiaq and the new Tiguan. In China, the Tayron is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with multiple tunes. There is also a diesel and plug-in hybrid option. In India, we can only expect the 2.0-litre turbo petrol that powers the Kodiaq. The chances of Hybrid and diesel engine options coming to India are quite slim.
