Car CNG sales have skyrocketed in the last few years due to more options and better technologies like twin-cylinder, etc coming. However, the CNG segment is still quite restricted as it doesn’t cater to the two-wheeler category. People have done DIYs to fit CNG in their bikes, but there have been no factory-fitted options. Bajaj is going to change that with its CNG bike spotted in testing. In today’s article, let’s talk about the first CNG bike in India.

CNG bike India

Earlier reports had hinted that Bajaj is working on a sleeve of fuel options for its bikes. This includes LPG, CNG and ethanol-blended fuel options for its lineup. Now, its CNG bike has been spotted testing for the first time. It was spotted testing along with a Platina 110. Talking about the bike, the seat is quite elongated and flat probably to accommodate the CNG cylinder. Also, there is a large gap in the fuel tank to access the fuel lid. According to claims, this bike also has a blue button which could be used to switch between CNG and petrol mode. Other things on the bike include hand guards, telescopic fork, mono shock, and rear drum brake setup.

CNG bike India – Bajaj’s plan

Last year, Bajaj confirmed that it is working on a CNG bike codenamed Bruzer 101. At that time, the brand claimed the bike was in the final stages of development, and if all goes to plan, it could see the light of day in six months or a year. The brand plans to produce the 110cc bike at its Aurangabad factory and then eventually in its Pant Nagar facility. Earlier it had set a target of producing about 1-1.2 lakh CNG bikes per annum, but it has revised that to about 2 lakh units per annum.
