Should You wait for the Ford Endeavour?

There is no simple answer to this question. While the rumours of Ford’s re-entry and Endeavour’s launch grow stronger, we do not have any concrete evidence of the same. Besides, the Fortuner itself is set to undergo a transformation that will see the introduction of a more efficient mild-hybrid powertrain on the model.

Also, the waiting periods for the current-generation model stretch up to 2 months, making it a difficult choice for anyone considering buying the Fortuner.

Toyota Fortuner Vs Ford Endeavour: Design

In terms of exterior design, both the Ford Endeavour and the Fortuner offer a traditional SUV design with a muscular and imposing front end. An evolution of the outgoing model design, the new Ford Endeavour offers C-shaped DRLs, Matrix LED headlamps, a new hexagonal pattern grille, 20-inch alloy wheels and an inverted L-shaped connected taillamp among others. In its latest avatar, the Endeavour is longer, taller and wider than the Fortuner giving it a more macho appeal.

Besides, the Fortuner is also set to get a mild facelift that will add a more modern grill and bumper from the Legender on the SUV model. While the Fortuner’s design has started to show age, the Endeavour’s is a breath of fresh air.

Toyota Fortuner Vs Ford Endeavour: Interior & Features

The same story continues on the inside. While the Fortuner makes do with the same dashboard design from over a decade, the Endeavour offers a more modern cabin inspired by models like the Mustang Mach-E. Similar bits on both models include all-black leather upholstery, a glove box on the dashboard, a rotary knob for the 4WD system, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable and ventilated driver’s seat among others.

While the Fortuner offers a JBL-sourced 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, the Endeavour will come with a larger 12-inch system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other additional equipment on the Endeavour includes a fully digital instrument cluster, electronic parking brake, power-folding third-row seats, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and a wireless phone charger. Alongside these additions, the Endeavour also offer level 2 ADAS functionality.

Toyota Fortuner Vs Ford Endeavour: Powertrain & Variants

Expected to be only in the top-spec Titanium variant, the Ford Endeavour could come with the same 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine option offered in the international market. This unit comes mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox and a full-time 4WD system. But to keep costs in check, Ford could also launch the 2.0-litre single turbo engine seen on the older generation model mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and RWD layout only.

Compared to the Endeavour, the Fortuner offers more engine options including a 2.7-litre turbo petrol and a 2.9-litre turbo diesel. These engines come mated to either a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Diesel models offer 4X4 while petrol models are RWD. Additionally, the facelift model is also set to introduce a mild-hybrid system on the diesel variants of the Fortuner making the car more efficient, especially in stop-go traffic.

So with waiting periods for the current generation Fortuner extending to two months, will you wait for the Endeavour or go ahead with the Fortuner?
