2 Maruti cars coming in the next couple of months

February has been a quiet month in the Indian automotive scene. There have been no new launches or leaks in this month. Maruti is expected to break this silence by bringing in 2 new cars in the next couple of months. So, which two new car could Maruti launch? Let’s find out.

New Swift

Maruti is testing the new-gen Swift in India, and its launch is expected by March or April 2024. From the spy shots, it is clear that the model coming to India is quite similar to the one unveiled in Japan. One noticeable change is that the Indian model misses the ADAS radar. The new Swift comes with a new grille, LED headlamps & foglamps and blacked-out alloy wheels. The interiors resemble other newer Maruti cars like the Fronx. We have a floating infotainment system with rectangular AC vents and new HVAC controls.

Under the hood, the new Swift is expected to come with a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine capable of producing 80bhp and 108Nm of torque. We don’t think Maruti will be bringing the hybrid setup to India as it is working on a new affordable setup that will be explained later in the story. Pricing-wise, we can expect a hike of Rs 70k to 80k depending upon the variants. 

Maruti new car launch – New Dzire

Like the Swift, the Dzire is also expected to get the generational update. In January, the new Dzire was first time spotted testing in India. The spy shot revealed the new rear design and redesigned tailgate. Interestingly, the Dzire has been spotted with a 360-degree camera, which is not seen on the Swift test mule. Interiors should be more or less similar, but the Dzire could get different upholstery colours and some new features. According to rumours, the new Dzire could come with an electric sunroof. Other features could include a 9.0-inch infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, etc. It will also come with the new 1.2-litre K series engine with manual and AMT gearbox. The new Dzire is expected to be launched along with the new Swift.

Bonus details

According to new reports, Maruti is working on a new low-cost hybrid system. This new system utilizes the new 1.2-litre Z series engine using it as a generator to charge the 2kWh battery pack. The new system is expected to debut on the Fronx facelift, coming sometime in 2025. After that, a plethora of models will get this system including the Swift facelift in 2027.
