The Fortuner practically faces no competition in the full-size segment. This could change if Ford makes a comeback with the Endeavour in India. Today, we are not going to talk about the Endeavour, but rather a Kia car that could rival the Fortuner. No, this is not the Telluride as you may think. Kia also has a ladder-on-frame SUV called the Mohave, which could better compete with the Fortuner. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Kia Mohave India.

Dimensions

Photos may not do justice to how big the Mohave is. It measures 4,930mm in length, 1,920mm in width & 1,790mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2895mm with 20-inch alloy wheels, giving it a badass look. Dimension-wise, the Mohave is bigger than the Fortuner and more in line with the Ford Endeavour. Unlike the Fortuner, the Mohave comes in five and seven-seater options.

Kia Mohave India – Design

Kia Mohave India

The Mohave doesn’t resemble any other Kia car. Rather it looks more like someone has pasted the Tiger Nose grille on the Mahindra Scorpio-N. Overall, the Mohave comes with a boxy and rugged design as seen from the images. We also see a sculpted bonnet and LED headlamps. The side profile looks clean with curves over the wheel arches. At the rear, it comes with connected tail lamps and the Mohave nameplate inscribed in the middle.

Specifications

Globally, the Mohave comes with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine capable of producing 253bhp & 560Nm of torque. Even if the Mohave comes to India, it is very unlikely it will come with this engine option. The other option Kia could consider is a 2.2-litre diesel that powers the powered Carnival capable of producing 197bhp and 440Nm of torque. Transmission options could include manual and automatic gearbox.

Features

Kia Mohave India

Even though the Mohave looks like a proper off-roader, it comes with a decent amount of features too. The Mohave comes with features like a 15-speaker sound system, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, an electronic parking brake, multiple drive modes and a heads-up display. This is something where the Mohave can edge over the Toyota Fortuner.

Kia Mohave India – Is it a possibility?

Kia Mohave India

Kia has yet to confirm anything about the Mohave coming to India. As a product, Kia only sells the Mohave in some of its developed markets. So it’s unlikely we would see the Mohave in India anytime soon. However, as Kia grows in the country, it will need products like the Mohave to maintain its momentum. Kia would need to price it competitively to have any chance to take on the Toyota Fortuner.
