Tata Motors first pure electric model, the Tata Punch.ev has made a grand debut in the Indian market. Based on the Acti.ev born electric architecture, the new sub-compact SUV is available at an introductory price of Rs 11.57 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The new Punch.ev is offered with a choice of 25 kWh (Medium Range) and 35 kWh (Long Range) battery pack offering a claimed range of 315 km and 421 km respectively. Customers can choose from 5 personas – Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+. Tata Punch.ev – Changes

The overall silhouette of the new model is identical to the Punch ICE but features EV specific changes. Upfront it gets a cleaner face with large blanked off grille, connected LED DRL and new headlamp housing. Lower down, the bumpers are all-new and offer air curtains for better aero efficiency along with sliver skid plates which enhance the rugged feel of the SUV.

Moving inside, the 2024 Punch EV gets a new cabin inspired by the recently launched Tata Nexon.ev facelift. Key highlights include twin-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo, dual 10.25-inch screen for infotainment and instrument cluster, touch based controls panel for HVAC controls, rotary gear selector knob, ventilated front seats and a smart sunroof.

In terms of safety, the electric Tata Punch comes with a host of standard features including 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, ISOFIX, hill hold assist, TPMS, roll-over mitigation, brake disc wiping and hydraulic fading compensation.

Tata Punch.ev Smart – Rs 11.57 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

The entry level, Smart persona of the new Tata Punch.ev comes offered with only the medium range battery pack. Despite being the base model, it is handsomely equipped with features like:

•          Power Window front and rear

•          7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Tata Punch.ev Adventure – Rs 12.62 to Rs 13.66 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

The mid-spec Adventure variant is the first variant of the 2024 Tata Punch EV to offer both medium and long-range battery pack. New equipment on the Adventure persona compared to base variant includes:

•          Sequential front indicators

•          Connected LED DRL with welcome & goodbye sequence

•          Cruise control

•          Push button start

•          Electric adjustable ORVM

•          Front fog led lamps with cornering function

•          Follow me home headlights

While the base Adventure person is already handsomely equipped, Tata Cars is providing an additional sunroof package at Rs 50,000. This new pack adds convenience features like an electric sunroof, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers and dual tone colour option.

Tata Punch.ev Empowered – Rs 13.46 to Rs 14.70 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

Similar to the Adventure persona, the Empowered is also offered with both medium and long-range battery pack option. The new variant offers:

•          10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay

•          7-inch digital instrument cluster

•          Reverse parking camera

•          Rear wiper and auto defogger

•          Electrically adjustable ORVM with auto fold function

•          Auto dimming IRVM

Additionally, customers can also opt for the sunroof package which adds a voice assisted electric sunroof and mood lighting to the overall package.

Tata Punch.ev Empowered+ – Rs 13.97 to Rs 15.23 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

Finally, the top-of-the-line persona on the 2024 Tata Punch EV is the Empowered+ which is offered with the Empowered Oxide hero colour. The flagship persona introduces flagship features like:

•          360-degree surround view camera 

•          Blind spot view monitor

•          Arcade.ev app suite

•          Leatherette seats 

•          Front ventilated seats

•          Wireless smartphone charger

•          10.25-inch customisable digital cockpit with full map view

So based on the feature split, we would recommend the Empowered persona with the long-range battery pack as the most value for money variant on the all-new Tata Punch EV as it offers adequate features along with powerful performance and range.
