Maruti Suzuki YDB MPV

8 lakh Maruti 7-seater

Maruti is developing an entry-level 7-seater based on the Suzuki Spacia. Currently, the car is codenamed YDB and will be slightly bigger than the Spacia. Still, it will be a sub-4m model to cash in on the tax benefits. The Spacia comes with sliding doors in the second row due to cost restrictions. However, there is a chance that Maruti uses the cost-effective sliding mechanism of the Eeco on the YDB. Overall the YDB will come with a tall-boy design to offer more headroom and interior space.

What else to expect?

The interior of the YDB is expected to get some changes compared to the Spacia. This will be due to the increased size and also the two-row seating of the Spacia. Hopefully, Maruti manages to offer decent enough space in the interiors. We can expect a interior layout similar to the new Swift. Under the hood, the YDB could come with the new 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that is expected to debut on the new Swift. Transmission could include a manual and automatic gearbox options.

Rs 8 lakh Maruti 7-seater – Launch & pricing

The YDB is in the initial stages of development. Before that, Maruti is going to focus on launching the new Swift, eVX and the Grand Vitara 7-seater. The YDB is expected to be launched sometime in 2026. Even though it is positioned below the Ertiga & XL6, the YDB is expected to be sold through the brand’s premium Nexa dealerships. It will directly rival the Renault Triber and is expected to start from Rs 8 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
