The test car of the Maruti eVX was spotted in Gurgaon near the Maruti plant. Now although the test car was completely camouflaged, a few of the elements were visible. At the front, the car was equipped with the headlamps. And no, they were not temporary headlights and looked like a production ready unit. In fact they look very similar to what was showcased in the Tokyo Motor Show. Also, the Y-shaped LED DRLs were not visible on the test car and Maruti may add them on the later stage.

On the side what caught the attention are the ORVMs. The ORVMs on the test car of eVX were placed below the window line! Is that just because it’s a test car? Or is it a design element to make the car look cool? Well, the placement and design of the ORVMs on the test car was very similar to the concept car that was showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show. Also, there was a camera on the ORVM of the test car which confirms the 360-degree camera feature. The other evident element were the door handles. The front door handles were placed onto the doors whereas the rear door handles were placed on the C Pillars like the current Maruti Swift. The rear didn’t reveal a lot as the test car was equipped with temporary tail lamps. Overall, the SUV has a commanding road presence, thanks to the wide and muscular stance.

Powering the eVX will be a 60kWh battery pack and the same powertrain will be offered for Toyota’s iteration as well. The said battery pack claims a range of 550km and should return a real life range of 450-500km. There will be a base variant with a smaller battery pack of 48kWh. The real life range of the battery pack could be around 400km.

However, the eVX is in a testing phase and Suzuki will take their time to launch this SUV.  It is said that the SUV will be launched two years from now in 2025. Once launched, the eVX will compete with other upcoming electric C-SUVs like the Creta EV and Curvv EV.
