Recently Tata launched the Nexon EV facelift and it now comes with completely redesigned interiors and exteriors. It gets some premium features and has a powerful battery pack. But the prices are on the higher side with the base model starting from Rs 15.62 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). So it does not really appeal to those with a tight budget. Well, Tata Motors have taken care of those with affordable EVs like Tata Tiago and Tigor. However these are not the only affordable EVs in the market as there are two more from the other brands. Which are they? We are covering them all in today’s electric cars under Rs 15 lakh.
It is the latest EV that was launched in India under Rs 15 lakh. What makes it unique is the overall styling MG has adapted for the Comet. It is the smallest of the lot and the length sits just under 3000mm. However the car is surprisingly spacious as two adults can sit comfortably in the front row and short ones can accommodate themselves in the second row but for a shorter distance.
What will amaze you are the interiors. It has one of the coolest looking interiors and MG has smartly used different subtle and light colours. The car not only does well in aesthetics but is also loaded with features. It is equipped with connected car tech, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leather wrapped steering wheel, and keyless entry and go. The overall build quality is great with good quality plastics used inside the car.

Electric Cars Under Rs 15 Lakh – Tata Tiago Ev
Tata Motors have witnessed the most success in the EV market in India and were aggressive with their strategy. And that can be seen with the Tiago EV. With the Tiago EV their aim was to offer an affordable EV to the masses.
Just like the Nexon EV and Tigor EV, Tiago EV is based on the ICE variants of the Tiago. It is the Gen-1 platform of the Tata Motors as they swapped the engines and other mechanicals with a battery pack and electric motors.
In terms of design the Tiago EV is identical to the ICE Tiago. The only way to differentiate them is that Tiago EV gets a few EV specific blue inserts on the exterior. Also, it gets EV badging on the front grille along with a blue strip below the grille.
The story continues for the interior as well. It is the regular Tiago and so it continues to get a dual tone dashboard with some blue inserts on the seats and around AC vents and instrument cluster. However it is equipped with more features than the regular Tiago. Features like cruise control, multi-level regen mode, connected car features and leatherette upholstery. Other features include a 7-inch infotainment system, 8-speaker Harman sound system, and automatic climate control.
The Tiago EV comes with two battery pack options, a 19.2kWh smaller one and a bigger 24kWh battery pack. Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor are technically the same cars and the only difference is that Tigor is a sedan. Even the Tigor EV is based on the ICE version of the Tigor and boasts similar treatment to that of Tiago EV. The EV version includes some subtle blue inserts on the grille and bumpers with an EV badge on the grille.
Nothing different for the interiors. The Tigor EV has the same interior layout as the Tiago EV. Also, to differentiate the Tigor EV with ICE version, Tata has added some blue inserts on the dashboard around the AC vents. It gets features like leatherette upholstery, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.
The main differentiation however is made to the battery pack. The Tigor EV gets a 26kWh battery pack which is slightly larger than the Tiago EV. It generates 74bhp and 170Nm of torque and comes with a claimed range of 306kms. With a regular 15A charging point, you can charge the Tata Tigor from 0 to 80% in 8 hours and 45 minutes.
