Honda’s next SUV after the Elevate?
Honda has finally woken up from its deep slumber in the country. Last month, it finally unveiled its first proper SUV, the Elevate. Soon Honda could announce the pricing of the Elevate. But what’s Honda’s next SUV after the Elevate? Honda plans to bring a new SUV every year. Its next SUV could be a sub-4m SUV. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Next Honda SUV.
Design
The Honda WR-V is based on the updated version of the PF2 platform. This architecture is also shared by its compact sedan sibling- Amaze. Design-wise, the WRV looks quite similar to the Elevate. It looks fairly modern, with an aggressive front look and LED headlamps. Other than this, the side profile looks clean and clear, with no defining cuts and creases. What about the rear? The rear comes with comma-shaped rear taillamps.
Next Honda SUV – Specifications
Honda currently only has 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre aspirated petrol in its lineup. We think the C-SUV will come with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol capable of producing 88bhp and 110Nm of torque. Transmission options could include a manual and a CVT gearbox.
Features
Honda is quite late in this segment and needs to up its feature game if it wants to survive the competition. The Elevate doesn’t come with any groundbreaking features but has all the necessary ones. We can expect a similar template on the compact SUV. We could see 9.0-inch infotainment, 6-speakers, automatic AC, semi-digital instrument cluster etc. Safety-wise, we could see 6-airbags, ABS + EBD, vehicle stability control and more. Could we see ADAS? Only time will tell, but the competition could start offering ADAS by the time this SUV makes its way to India.
Next Honda SUV – Price and launch
Currently, Honda is working on launching Elevate into the Indian market. However, it is a known fact that Honda plans to launch a sub-4m SUV next. Also, Honda has stated that it will launch one new SUV every year. So it looks like Honda will launch the chopped WRV sometime in 2024. What about pricing? The prices could stay in line with other cars in the competition. We can expect this car to start at Rs 9 lakh. (on-road, Mumbai).
