Renault is kind of stuck in a no-man’s land in the Indian market. It is getting decent sales, but the sales are on a downward trajectory. It needs some new inspiring products to revive itself in the market. So which such car can Renault bring to India? Renault could launch the Koleos in India. In today’s article, let’s talk about this 35 lakh Tucson rival.

The Koleos is 4673mm in length, 1843mm in width & 1667mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2705mm and has a ground clearance of 210mm. These dimensions put it in the exact ballpark of the Hyundai Tucson. Coming to the design, we have a small chrome grille with a big Renault logo in the middle. The grille then integrates into the headlamps that form a C-shaped DRL design. In the side profile, the Koleos come with a lot of cuts and creases. At the rear, we have big tail lamps that extend into the tailgate but don’t intersect in the middle.

Like the upcoming X-Trail, the Koleos is based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-CD platform. Globally, the Koleos comes with various engine options. In India, we could see a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with an 8-speed CVT gearbox. Renault isn’t eager to launch diesel-engine cars in India, but it should try to bring the 2.0-litre diesel engine to the Koleos in India. Globally, both these engines come with 2WD and 4WD options.

Tucson rival – India launch?

The Renault Koleos has been spotted testing in India, but Renault is yet to confirm anything about the SUVs launch in the country. However, the spy shots give a glimmer of hope. What about the pricing? Most probably, the Koelos will come through the CKD route in India. This will help Renault price it aggressively in comparison to the Hyundai Tucson. It will rival cars like the Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan and Jeep Compass.
