Kia has established itself as a premium manufacturer in the country. It has done so by bringing in well-designed cars at affordable pricing. The Seltos is one such car and soon Kia will be launching its facelifted model. But what is Kia’s plan after the Seltos? Kia’s next car after the Seltos could be the new-gen Carnival. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Kia Carnival.

Dimensions & design

Kia Carnival

The KA4 is huge and it has no competition in this aspect. To get a perspective, it is 5,156mm in length, 1,994mm in width and 1,740mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 3,090mm and has a ground clearance of 172mm. Kia has done a good job of giving the Carnival a well-rounded aggressive design. It looks like a proper SUV and not like a van (its intended purpose). As you come to the sides, you see the true extent of its size. Kia has kept the sides clean with no cuts and creases. At the rear, we get an infinity tail lamp design.

Kia Carnival – Interior & features

Kia Carnival

The interiors are as grand as the exterior. We have the signature styling of Kia cars with a floating infotainment system that integrates into a digital instrument cluster. Overall, the premium quotient has been increased in the car by retaining its existing features. Additional features would include ADAS (level 2), more connected car features, leg extensions, wing-out headrests and ventilated seats and more. Another highlight could be its seating capacity of 11 people which might lure buyers.

Specifications

At the Auto Expo, Kia didn’t reveal any specifications of the new-gen Carnival. Globally, the Carnival comes with a 3.5-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. We don’t expect the petrol engine to make its way to India. What about the diesel engine? The South Korean automaker could simply implant the 2.2-litre diesel engine which powers the current car. This 2.2-litre diesel is capable of making 197bhp and 440Nm of torque. This setup comes mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Kia Carnival – Launch timeline

Kia Carnival facelift

Kia has discontinued the current-generation Carnival in India. Though the brand has shared no fixed launch timeline for the new model. According to reports, Kia could launch the new Carnival sometime in 2024. This is a long wait, the new-gen was globally launched in 2020. So Kia has taken 4 years to launch it in India. Hopefully, Kia prices the new model quite aggressively in the country.
