Unique Volkswagen SUV coming to India 

Volkswagen is on an upward trend in the Indian market. The launch of Taigun and Virtus are raking in decent sales. Though not the best in the segment, still decent for a brand like Volkswagen. But Volksawgen will need more cars to sustain this momentum. So Volkswagen could bring an SUV from its global portfolio which is the Taigo. In today’s article, let’s talk about this unique Volkswagen SUV.

Why the Taigo?

SUVs are currently trending in the country with the graph expected to only go upwards in the coming years. Coupe SUVs are also expected to gain traction along the same lines. A lot of brands are working on coupe SUVs. So Volkswagen can bypass all the development by just bringing Taigo to India. 

Unique Volkswagen SUV – Specifications

Globally the Taigo gets several petrol engine options. It gets two tunes of the 1.0-litre which generate 93bhp and 108bhp respectively. The second engine is the 1.5-litre petrol capable of producing 150bhp of power. These engines are almost identical to what we see on the Taigun sold in India. However, if the Taigo comes to India it will come with the Taigun engines. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and a 7-DCT gearbox.

Features

The interiors of the Taigo are quite identical to the Taigun. We have the 10.1-inch infotainment tilted towards the driver’s side flanked by a shiny dashboard layout. The Taigo gets coloured dashboard panels coded to the exterior colour scheme. Other features include a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, push-button start/stop etc. Volkswagen also offers level-2 ADAS on the Taigo. 

Unique Volkswagen SUV – Price and launch

Currently, Volkswagen is working on bringing the ID.4 to India. After that, it could bring the compact SUV, but other than that Volkswagen doesn’t have many products lined up for the Indian market. So Volkswagen should look to bring the Taigo in 2023 or 2024. If launched, the pricing of the Taigo should start from Rs 13 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
