Maruti Jimny Launched! Overpriced?

The Jimny has garnered some serious interest in the country. People were dying to see the Jimny in India and Maruti fulfilled that wish by unveiling the Jimny at the Auto Expo. The car launched in the country is the 5-door variant which is specially made keeping in mind the Indian market. Maruti has already raked in 3000 bookings, but what about its price? In today’s article, let’s talk about the Maruti Jimny price. 

Price expectations

Maruti unveiled the Jimny 5-door at the Auto Expo and opened the bookings for this SUV. Recently it also concluded the media drive event, and now it has completed the final piece of the puzzle by revealing the price. The Jimny comes in two variants – Zeta and Alpha. The Zeta MT is priced at Rs 12.74 lakh, while Zeta Automatic is priced at Rs 13.94 lakh. Alpha variant pricing starts from Rs 13.69 lakh for Manual and Rs 14.89 lakh for automatic. The Alpha variant also comes in dual-tone option for Rs 13.85 lakh (MT) and Rs 15.05 lakh (AT).

Maruti Jimny price – Design

The overall silhouette of the 5-door Jimny is similar to the 3-door version. So we have a boxy design with no sharp cuts. At the front, we have circular headlamps with the iconic grille and near-flat bonnet design. From the sides, we can see the extended length and wheelbase. The spare tyre is mounted on the rear door. Tail Lamps are placed on the bumpers. 

Specifications

The Jimny 5-door comes with the older K15B petrol engine that powered the pre-facelift Baleno, Brezza etc. This engine is capable of producing 101bhp and 130Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Staying true to its roots, the Jimny comes with Maruti AllGrip Pro (4×4) technology with a low-range transfer gear. 

Maruti Jimny price – Interior & features

The Jimny is geared towards true-off-road enthusiasts and it can be seen in the interiors. Though Maruti has given the Jimny a decent amount of features, we can spot hard plastics in the entire cabin. What about the features? We have a 9-inch SmarPlay Pro+ infotainment, ARKAMY’s sound system, cruise control, all power windows and Suzuki connect. Safety features include a 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, hill descent control and rearview camera etc.
