Maruti is making a grand entry into the SUV space. Yesterday it unveiled the much anticipated Jimny, but with the Jimny, it also unveiled the Fronx SUV. The Maruti Fronx is a beefed-up version of the Baleno hatchback. So how is the car and why is it special? In today’s article, let’s find out. 

Coupe design

Traditionally, Maruti is known for playing it safe in the design aspect of its cars. However, with the Fronx Maruti is trying something with its coupe-SUV-like design. The Fronx has a tapering c-pillar giving it a unique outlook. It is also most certainly to become the cheapest car in the country to come with a coupe design.

Maruti Fronx – Return of BoosterJet

Maruti is known for its naturally aspirated engines, but people have started demanding turbo petrol engines due to their higher power. So Maruti had to bring the BoosterJet back on the Fronx. It comes with a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine that powered the Baleno RS. This engine is capable of producing 100bhp and 150Nm of torque. The Fronx is the sportiest car in Maruti’s current lineup. 

Features

Features have become an integral part of the car-buying experience in India. SO Maruti had to load the Fronx with features. The Fronx comes with features like a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, heads-up display, six airbags, ARKAMYS Surround Sense, and a 360-degree camera. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS + EBD, ESC etc.

Maruti Fronx – Expected pricing

Maruti has only opened the bookings of the Fronx for now, launch is expected to happen in the next couple of months. So what could be its expected pricing? The Fronx will sit above the Baleno hatchback in Maruti’s Nexa dealerships. So we can expect it to start from Rs 9 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
