Honda India has had a torrid time in the last few years. The biggest problem for Honda is that it currently doesn’t have an SUV in its lineup. This is soon going to change as Honda is working on not one, but two new SUVs. Now Honda has released the first teaser of its all-new SUV. In today’s article, let’s talk about this 2023 Honda SUV.

Honda has revealed the design sketch of the all-new SUV. Straight away, it is clear that this is not the WR-V or even the HR-V sold outside India. This seems to be an all-new SUV designed for the Indian market. Coming to the design, we can spot a muscular design with eyebrow DRLs and fog lamps placed below them. From the overall silhouette, the all-new SUV seems to be a Creta competitor.

What else do we know?

Last week, we covered that Honda plans to bring a Creta competitor this year. According to reports, this new SUV could be based on the Amaze platform and will measure around 4,200mm to 4,300mm. As for specifications, it could come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and also a 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol as seen on the City Hybrid. Honda plans to produce the hybrid system in India to reduce costs. Transmission options could include a manual and a CVT on the naturally aspirated petrol and an e-CVT gearbox on the strong hybrid petrol. What about features? Honda will have to load it with features to take on the established players in this segment. So we can expect a big infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, ADAS and much more.

2023 Honda SUV – Launch timeline

Honda plans to unveil the all-new SUV in the summer of 2023. Honda could be planning a launch just before the festive season for maximum traction. What about the pricing? This Honda SUV will have a high level of localisation, so we can expect aggressive pricing. Once launched, this Honda SUV will take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, etc.

Why is it so important?

2023 Honda SUV

As stated above, Honda’s lack of SUVs has really affected the brand in the country. Now Honda is playing a huge gamble by bringing a SUV in the most competitive segment in India. However, this could be just what Honda needs to revive itself in the country. With this new SUV it can get in good sales number and also expand it product portfolio.
