Toyota seems to have woken from its deep slumber in the Indian market. In 2022, it launched several new cars ranging from the Glanza to Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Now in 2023, Toyota has plans to launch two new cars in different segments. It has plans to bring an MPV and a small SUV. In today’s article, let’s talk about these two new Toyota cars.

Ertiga-based MPV

Toyota is working on a new MPV based on the Ertiga. According to reports, it will be based on the Heartect platform and is codenamed D23 for now. It will not be a direct rebadge of the Ertiga as Toyota does with the Rumion sold in South Africa. The D23 would get a different exterior design but could get the same interior and features as the Ertiga. When could it be launched? The D23 could be launched sometime in mid-2023.

New Toyota cars – Glanza-based SUV

Maruti Fronx

As we already know, Maruti is bringing the Fronx, a beefed-up version of the Baleno hatchback. As the Glanza is based on the Baleno, Toyota is also expected to bring a crossover version of the Glanza. This crossover version of the Glanza will be based on the Heartect platform and would come with the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine. This crossover version of Glanza would get a different exterior design and interior colours. Feature-wise, it could share them with the Glanza so we can expect a floating infotainment system, heads-up display, 360-degree camera etc. When could it be launched? It could be launched by the end of 2023.
