8 new MG cars revealed at the Auto Expo 2023!

We have been covering several new EV cars that have been launched at the Expo. MG was expected to unveil the Air EV, but instead it has revealed the MG4. The MG4 looks like a promising product in this space. with the MG4, MG has also unveiled several new cars. In today’s article, let’s talk about the MG4 EV in detail and also talk about the other revealed cars in India. 

Design

The MG4 is based on the modular scalable platform of SAIC, an EV-specific architecture. The design of the car is bold with lots of cuts and creases. Then, if we take a thorough look at the car, we could see that it has formed a crossover-like design with a blacked-out running board and more. The dimensions of the car measure 4,287mm in length, 1,836mm in width, and 1,506mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,705mm. Technically it is similar in size to the ZS EV but offers better interior space due to the longer wheelbase. 

MG4 EV India – Battery and range

Globally, the MG 4 comes with two battery pack options on its rear-mounted motor. First, we have a 51kWh battery pack that is capable of producing 170bhp and second is a 64kWh option capable of producing 203bhp. What about the range? The smaller battery pack has a claimed range of 350km and 452km on the bigger one. It comes with a 7 kW AC fast charging and also a 150kW DC charger. 

Interiors & features

Like other EVs, the MG 4 comes with a simple interior design. The dashboard layout is clean with two floating touchscreens. One is the 10.25-inch infotainment system and the second is a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. We can also see a unique centre console design with a rotary-style gear lever. 

MG4 EV India – launch plan!

MG is still evaluating the MG4 for the Indian market, so there is no definitive launch timeline. Along with the 4 EV, MG is also evaluating the Marvel R, MG5, MIFA 9, MG6, eRX5, eHS. MG could use the Auto Expo response as a way to gauge the popularity. MG will be looking to bring these cars through the CBU or CKD route in India.
