Maruti Baleno Cross looks quite impressive!
Maruti as a manufacturer is known for its expertise in the hatchback segment. However, with SUVs becoming the preferred choice, Maruti had to shift its focus. We have seen that this year with the updated Brezza and the all-new Grand Vitara. Now Maruti’s next launch will be an SUV version of the Baleno hatchback. Last week, we covered the spy shots of Baleno Cross and now we have got more spy shots. In today’s article, let’s talk about the design of the Maruti Baleno Cross.
New spy shots!
The spy shots were sent to us by one of our readers lakhsya_8535 on Instagram. In the spy shots, we can see a heavily camouflaged car. From the tapering roofline, it is to guess it’s the Baleno Cross. This spy shot gives us a clear idea of the rear of the car. The tail lamp design looks more or less similar to the Baleno hatchback. We can also spot big wheel arches and alloys similar to the Baleno. A zoomed-in shot shows a floating infotainment system in the interiors. Overall the front end looks like it has taken heavy inspiration from the grand Vitara.
More expected details
Like the Baleno hatchback, the Baleno Cross is expected to be based on the Heartect platform. Specification-wise, Baleno Cross is expected to come with a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine that Maruti last used on the Baleno RS. This engine is capable of producing 100bhp & 150Nm of torque. With this engine option, Maruti is clearly gearing the Baleno Cross to be a sporty option in its lineup. Maruti could also give it some hybrid tech to balance out its efficiency figures.
Baleno Cross design – Launch timeline
Maruti has been quite tightlipped about the Baleno Cross, but the car seems to be in the final stages of development. This is considering the flurry of spy shots in the last few weeks. According to sources, Maruti has plans to unveil the car at the Auto Expo of 2023. The launch may happen a few months after the unveiling. The Baleno Cross will retail through the brand’s premium Nexa dealerships.
