The latter has been a determining product with its affordable price bracket and equipment list. In the near future, it is set to come with an EV powertrain and also a CNG. Though there is no official confirmation regarding the CNG option, the Citroen C3 CNG is spotted testing on Indian roads. What could this car get? Let’s find out!

Citroen C3 CNG – Spied testing in India

Citroen C3 CNG

A camouflaged version of the Citroen C3 was spotted testing on Bangalore roads. It had the emission equipment attached to the rear which further creates chances of a new update on the C3. So, it creates two possibilities which first is Citroen could be testing the automatic transmission for the C3. It is likely to be a torque convertor AT model which could be a segment first in this category.

Another possibility could be an addition of the bi-fuel CNG option for all those mileage-conscious buyers. The addition of CNG would not only improve the overall sales but also be light on the buyer’s pocket (running cost). However, the price of the car could increase by a lakh rupees.

Citroen C3 CNG – What could change?

Citroen C3 CNG

Citroen C3 gets 315 litres of boot space in the pure petrol variant. If it is set to get a CNG setup, the tank could acquire the majority of its boot space. This is a major drawback of any hatchback CNG car. If we move under the hood, the CNG model is likely to couple with the naturally aspirated motor. However, if Citroen plans to bring CNG in the turbo petrol model, it would be the first CNG model with a turbo petrol motor. Currently claimed mileage of the C3 is around 19-20kmpl.

The French automaker is currently gearing up to bring the C3 EV which could be soon ready for launch. Getting back to the C3 CNG, it could be pricier than the regular C3 due to its extra kit.
